Found May 03, 2013 on The Detroit Sports Site:
Gustav Nyquist beat Jonas Hiller just 1:21 into overtime to bail out the Detroit Red Wings in Game 2 of their Western Conference quarterfinal series against the Anaheim Ducks. The Wings led 4-1 in the third period, only to allow three unanswered goals by Anaheim. But Detroit responded late in the third period, with Pavel Datsyuk nearly netting the game-winner off a pass from Henrik Zetterberg in the final 90 seconds. That play helped the Wings draw a slashing penalty on Sheldon Souray, and Nyquist made Anaheim pay. The Ducks were just seconds away from killing off the Souray penalty when Valtteri Filppula made a sensational move at the side of the Anaheim net to set up Nyquist in the slot. Nyquist did the rest, one-timing one past Jonas Hiller. The video, courtesy of weallbleedred on YouTube:

VIDEO: Gustav Nyquist's OT game winner

If you missed it late last night (and still haven't seen the highlight all day), here's Gustav Nyquist's OT game winner against the Anaheim Ducks, which evened the series at 1-1:  Valtteri Filppula's drag was remarkable -- Datsyukian even. He made Corey Perry drop to his knees and look like the chump that he is and then was able to make a backhanded pass...

VIDEO: Gustav Nyquist scores in OT to lift the Wings to a 5-4 win over Anaheim

After blowing a three goal lead in the third period, things were certainly looking down for the Wings who were hoping to tie the series up with the Ducks heading back to Detroit for Game 3. However a power play and a fresh sheet of ice in overtime helped Valtteri Filppula find and open Gustav Nyquist who buried the shot behind Jonas Hiller giving the Wings a 5-4 win… a huge relief...

Red Wings-Ducks quick take: Nyquist, Wings nearly blow it, blow over Ducks

I'm just gonna get this out here and write a quick take in a minute: the Red Wings absolutely blew a 3-goal lead and played awful hockey during the latter half of the 3rd period in Anaheim, from Jimmy Howard on out, but the Wings got a decisive power play going into OT and scored their 3rd early period PPG, with Gustav Nyquist scoring the gamer in a 5-4 OT win. Detroit goes...

Video: Detroit Red Wings Gustav Nyquist scores the game winner

The Detroit Redwings Gustav Nyquist will go down as the guy who shot the game-winning goal against Anaheim on Thursday night in OT. The power-play was spurred on by a beautiful toe-drag by Valtteri Flippula who set up the shot. The 5-4 victory was somewhat ugly for the Red Wings who took Game 2 of their quarterfinal series. They blew a three-goal third period lead to set up what...

Detroit Red Wings shock Anaheim Ducks in OT, even series

The Detroit Red Wings appeared to be cruising to evening up their series with the Anaheim Ducks.  Then the Ducks seized momentum by scoring three unanswered goals to turn a 4-1 deficit into a 4-4 tie with 2:22 remaining in the third to send the Honda Center into a frenzy.  That lasted until Gustav Nyquist took a feed from Valtteri Filppula, and fired a one-timer past Jonas...

Wings can't win if they don't score

For the past several seasons, the Red Wings' lack of offense has been their downfall in the playoffs. Their inability to score was on full display again Tuesday night in Anaheim, where the Wings managed only 22 shots in a 3-1 loss to the Ducks in Game 1 of their Western Conference quarterfinal series. For the Wings to be successful in Game 2 Thursday night, they must be disciplined...

Ducks Take Game 1 Against Detroit

Ahhh spring!  The NHL playoffs are underway and it must be time for another Anaheim and Detroit match up.   Octopus sales have gone up and security at any arena the Red Wings play at has gone down. The Ducks took the first game against the Red Wings, 3-1, octopi be damned.  They turned in a solid performance all the way around.  And of course a goal from timeless, ageless...
