This week’s pre-Thanksgiving RAW comes is certainly a momentous one. Not only is right after Survivor Series, but it marks the 365th consecutive day CM Punk has held the WWE Title, a feat that is unthinkable in today’s WWE. However, what has people talking as well is the attack by the three NXT guys who helped Punk win. Will they show up tonight? How will Ryback handle not being Fed More? How much will Dolph Ziggler be gloating since he was the sole remaining man on his team? Best 2 out of 3: Just throwing out an Orton-Del Rio match might have been a bad idea, but they spice it up with a 2 out of 3 Falls stipulation. Orton gets the first fall after Del Rio is DQed, then Berto gets even by locking on the CAB out of nowhere. Even though Orton gets the deciding fall with an RKO, it was a good showing from Del Rio and a very enjoyable match overall with each man giving their all, plus the crowd was fully into the action. The Miz: It appears that Creative is taking the slow burn approach to Miz’s face turn and tonight was perhaps a glimpse of that. His match against Otunga clearly pitted him in the face role and getting beat on most of the match only to hit his finisher for the win is even more evidence. It’ll be interesting to see how Miz will develop into a face, how much he’ll play to the crowd or what heels he’ll feud with in the near future. Brawling: After putting everything related to the Cena-AJ ‘affair’ in The Worst section, it’s surprising to find one in The Best. Cena and Ziggler end up brawling in the lock room after AJ confronts Dolph and culminates when Mr MITB tackles Cena through some bathroom stalls. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen a good backstage brawl that used the environment to great effect. It was too short, but looks like this will be used as another injury angle for Cena. Celebration: Words cannot express how great of a heel character Paul Heyman is, as just him saying ‘Don’t boo me’ results in a deafening shower of jeers as well as boos. His comments about the Attitude Era and ECW are spot on. He puts Punk over like he is the second coming of Jesus before the man himself comes out. Listing wrestlers who have not had the Title as long as he is and claiming he beat Ryback and Cena by himself is vintage heel Punk. He can easily make people cheer him do a 180 and starting booing. Ryback’s music hits, but before he can get his hands on Punk, the NXT Guys jump him, give a massive beating before putting him through the announce table like last night. I certainly can’t wait to see what Rollins, Ambrose and Reigns do next week, though it all does have a Nexus feel to it. Worst Ryback: Yes the ending to the WWE Title match protected him and his status as a dominating force, but this is two PPV main events in a row he’s been given an out. The concern is that if they keep doing this to him, his luster may wear off and no one would take him seriously, almost anticipating some screwy finish where he doesn’t win nor does he really take the loss. His match against Tensai to open the show is only noteworthy because he was able to lift the man up on his own. Even more surprising was him getting some mic time before the match. It was probably the most he talked since he was Skip Sheffield on NXT. The Affair: In the latest round of Vickie’s evidence of The Affair, AJ tells her that she is sick of this happening week after week. Couldn’t have said it better myself. This whole angle is even harder to watch then the Steelers with their jarring bumble bee jerseys. The Cena-AJ make-out session in the middle of this segment ensures more precious time being devoted to this travesty. Telegraghing: As if the action after the Show-Sheamus match last night was any indication of what type of match they’ll have at TLC, The Pale One comes down to the ring with a chair in hand. Could they be more obvious? I know they have to have some match fulfill the C part of TLC, but chair matches are probably one of the lamest gimmick matches in WWE. Even when they’re part of a TLC match, they don’t figure prominently in much of the action. At least a decent match against Sandow, which Sheamus obviously wins, made up for the heavy chair foreshadowing. Wait, What?: Seeing The Great Khali in the ring is enough to elicit a ton of groans and he faces Epico & Primo. Hornswoggle comes out and squirts Rosa with water, Khali is confused and then decides to take care of business. The ‘match’ lasted like a minute and might have been one of the dumbest and confusing things Creative has come up with in a long time. If you can help it, skip this segment or at least cover your ears and keep your eyes closed. LINK: GuysNation.com
