Hall of Very Good:
Just days after future Hall of Famer Mariano Rivera was drafted (kinda) to play basketball...another player with a Hall of Fame pedigree was selected to play some hoops.
This time, however, it was a real basketball team picking a real basketball player. Imagine that.
With the 18th pick in this year's NBA Draft, the Atlanta Hawks selected Shane Larkin, the son of Cincinnati Reds legend and 2012 Hall of Fame inductee Barry Larkin. But, before he had a chance to even think about playing in the ATL, the 20-year-old Larkin was dealt to the Dallas Mavericks.
The Junior Larkin just finished up his second season running the point for the Miami Hurricanes. En route to winning both the ACC regular-season championship and ACC tournament championship, the 5'11" guard averaged 14.5 points, 4.6 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game.

When New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera finally hangs up his cleats following this season, it's possible he might have another job already lined up.
For absolutely no reason, the Harlem Globetrotters "drafted" the all-time saves leader on Tuesday.

Only Hall of Famer Rick Barry stands ahead of Shane Larkin.
Larkin on Thursday night became the second-highest NBA drafted player in Miami Hurricanes history, going No. 18 to Atlanta, although he will be traded to Dallas. The only one to go higher was Barry, taken No. 2 by the San Francisco Warriors in 1965.
Larkin, the ACC Player of the Year choice by league coaches, is the fourth...
Former Miami star Shane Larkin was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks with the 18th overall selection in the 2013 NBA Draft on Thursday and then immediately traded to the Dallas Mavericks. He became the highest Hurricane selected in 48 years and was the only Miami player taken in the draft. Larkin celebrated his memorable evening [...]
The Miami Hurricanes have their highest ever drafted player in the name of Shane Larkin a sophomore point-guard who was taken 18th overall by the Atlanta Hawks and traded to the Dallas Mavericks where he will begin his NBA career.

With the NBA Draft only two days away, there still is a huge uncertainty with what direction the Celtics will go when it’s their turn to pick. The major concerns for the C’s moving forward are the big man position, while also addressing the back-up point guard position. The lack of rebounding has always been a present problem for the Celtics, but they have played very well...
