MIAMI -- Greg Oden is signing with the Miami Heat.
Oden's agent, Mike Conley Sr., told FOX Sports Florida on Friday night that Oden will sign a two-year deal with the Heat for the minimum, with the second year a player option. Oden will make the minimum in his classification of 1.027 million next season and the player option is for 1.145 million in 2014-15.
The center was the No. 1 pick in the 2007 draft but hasn't played since December 2009 due to knee injuries.
"Greg is very excited," Conley said. "He chose the Heat because they have a lot of talent and they can bring him along slowly. And he's got a chance to win a title."
Conley said Oden can be ready for the regular-season opener. But it ultimately will be up to the Heat whether or not he plays then.
"I'm very confident that he's going to have a successful NBA career," Conley said of Oden, 25, bouncing back from his knee problems.
