Ohio State has received a verbal from tight end Jeff Heuerman ($) of Naples Collier, making the 6-5/230 tight end the tenth member of the 2011 class. Collier, one of a handful of sunshine state preps in attendance for the Spring Game over the weekend, received his offer on Saturday and left town having fallen in love with the school and city and phoned Jim Tressel today to give him the good news.
Heuerman, the son of a former Michigan hoopster (father Paul played center for the Wolverines), but saw the light after receiving overtures from a number of schools including Georgia, Iowa, Michigan, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Tennessee and Wisconsin.
Scout’s early listings peg him as a three-star and the 17th-best tight end in the class after he caught 12 passes for 300 yards and four touchdowns as a junior in a run-oriented attack. In other words, even if the Buckeyes return to treating tight ends as glorified tackle...
