IntheOT:
Tonight’s Nets Celtics game resulted in a brawl which featured Kris Humphries and Rajon Rondo who were later tossed from the game along with Gerald Wallace. All this started with an apparent hard foul Humphries laid on Garnett in which Rondo to exception to which resulted in the first shove that got everything started. Here is a video of what took place:Watch this video on YouTube Embedded with WP YouTube Lyte. The most interesting tidbit from this physical altercation was that Rondo being tossed before the half did not allow him enough playing time to continue his streak of 37 games of 10+ assists.Something Rondo probably doesn’t care about anyway since he’s such a down to earth team first type of guy. No record would be important than sticking up for his boys. And if there was anyway he would want the streak to end it would probably in this fashion. It’s hard to assess 100% blame in this matter to either team. But, it does appear in my opinion that the Celtics overreacted more so. Yes Humphries physical contact was not the cleanest on KG but it wasn’t a blatant try to take him out flagrant foul type of hit. Yes, I understand their was some history being built up throughout the game. But, was it necessary for Rondo to react in that matter going right after him? Then everything spiraled from there with him reacting and Wallace wanting to defend his Nets teammates once other Celtics got involved. It was no Malice at the Palice no not even close. Nobody got hurt. Just a physical emotional ball game. Something that many other games seemingly lack during the lengthy NBA regular season. Which happens to make this kind of game a breath of fresh air.Hopefully Stern calms down and doesn’t lose it coming out with big fines and suspensions. The players getting kicked out of the important game was enough of a penalty.
