I'm just saying: Stop the whining, Chipper

Sporting News baseball writer Stan McNeal weighs in on some topics around the majors: Chipper Jones should stop talking about how old he is. From his name to his look to his sweet swinging, Jones defines "ballplayer" in every sense. But he's coming close to defining a whiner with all his talk about being old and sore. We know, he's 37 and been through a ton. He's missed time this year because of dizziness and a sore wrist, groin, foot, elbow and thumb and hasn't gone on the disabled list. Now with his average down, Jones makes no secret of his wish for days off, even with the Braves in a pennant race. Bobby Cox understandably is not showing much sympathy, telling reporters last week, "You sign on, you play." Jones has signed on for a lot more playing.
