After the Xavier loss, Dayton fans are doing some soul searching to find out how good we really are as a team and on paper for the NCAA selection committee. I have read a number of opinions that we are NIT bound and will not meet our pre-season expectations (i.e. beat Xavier in Cincinnati, win conference tournament, make the NCAA tournament).If one were making the argument against UD, you would point out that no marquee wins + 0-4 versus Top 25 teams + average RPI win of 181 could mean an entry in NIT basketball. But, there's plenty of basketball left and we have ample opportunities to make our case. All evaluations of us being an NIT team assumes that we will not a) win the important games ahead of us and b) beat good teams in the conference tournament or win it outright. I am a believer that UD is right now and will be an NCAA team.
