Found April 16, 2013 on Nationals Enquirer:
"I thought he pitched a lot better. He was locating his pitches. That one error, and he seemed to kind of lose it a little bit." (Davey Johnson, via postgame presser/ MASNSports.com, 4/16/2013) Marlins 8, Nationals 2. Pffffft. While Bryce Harper and Denard Span missed the game with flu-like symptoms, Dan Haren barfed all over Marlins Park: 4.1 IP, 7 H, 7 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 1 HR, 93 pitches. Oh sure, go ahead and blame another Ryan Zimmerman throwing error for Haren's demise. But Haren was awful again. Is Dan Cabrera available? Meanwhile: Death, taxes, and a Ryan Zimmerman throwing error: "I'm working on it. I'm doing everything I can to make those plays and help this team." Harper bummed over sale of jersey

Nationals slugger Bryce Harper took to Twitter to bemoan the fact that the team auctioned off his game-worn jersey from opening day.

Bryce Harper has flu, goes 4-5: "I thought he was gonna die every time he went up there," says Davey

Of course going 4-5 in front of a "crowd" of "22,302" Marlins fans is not nearly on the order of the Michael Jordan Flu Game (or was it food poisoning!?), but Bryce Harper registered  a fairly impressive performance Wednesday night. Harper went 4-5, vomited in the 2nd inning, and beat out an infield hit despite battling a nasty flu bug for the past two ...

Dan Haren's Unlucky Start

It's been a rough start to 2013 for Dan Haren, who was a major offseason acquisition for the Washington Nationals. He's under contract for just one year at $13 million based on a track record of significant success over the course of a 10-year career. In seasons where he's pitched 30 or more games, and there are eight of them, Haren only posted an ERA over 4.00 twice...

Harper dominates despite flu bug

Despite reportedly throwing up multiple times in the dugout, Nationals phenom Bryce Harper nevertheless collected four hits on Wednesday night.

Bryce Harper’s Four Hit “Flu Game”

[Box Score] Be honest, when you heard that Bryce Harper was playing with the flu, didn’t you kind of have a notion that he would do something like this? It just adds to the legend and makes the storybook so much better. This is what the great ones do. Everyone knows about Michael Jordan’s “Flu Game” that will live on forever in NBA lore. After a four-hit performance in Miami...

Nats Collapse Following Zimmerman Error In 8-2 Loss

The Nationals were coming off of the high of trouncing the Marlins 10-3 in Monday's series opener, which was a much needed win after a rough sweep at the hands of the Braves at home the previous weekend. Dan Haren was on the mound looking to turn the page to become the pitcher that the Nats thought they'd get when they signed him this offseason. Unfortunately, it didn'...

Denard Span Admits Not Understanding Double-Switch Rules, Thought He Was Being Benched When Subbed Out of Game

Baseball’s rules can be pretty intricate, and knowing all of them can be tough — even for players. That apparently goes double for players switching from the American League to the National League, as first-year Washington outfielder Denard Span learned Sunday. After the Nats pinch-hit for starter Gio Gonzalez and made a double-switch for pitcher Zach Duke in the fifth inning...

Both Zimmermans lead Nats to win

Jordan Zimmermann succeeded after Washington Nationals teammates Stephen Strasburg and Gio Gonzalez faltered. It surely helped that Zimmermann was pitching against the woeful Miami Marlins. The right-hander threw a six-hitter for his third victory in three starts this season, and Washington bounced back from a humbling series to beat Miami 10-3 Monday night. Washington was outscored...

Nationals 6, Marlins 1

Ross Detwiler departed with a lead for the third start in a row Wednesday night, and this time the bullpen held on as Bryce Harper and the Washington Nationals beat the Miami Marlins 6-1. Harper, back in the Nationals' lineup after missing one game with the flu, hiked his average to .364 with four hits and improved to 8 for 12 against Ricky Nolasco (0-2). Harper hit two solo...
