Fox Sports:
Illinois spokesman Kent Brown confirmed Friday that Zook won't be fired. Zook's future at Illinois had been the subject of speculation among fans and others after a 3-9 season.
The Illini have had two straight losing seasons after 2007's 9-4 campaign that included a trip to the Rose Bowl.
Athletic director Ron Guenther in October said Zook would be back next year. But he also said that other changes will be made.
Zook's contract runs through January 2014.
