9 seed Wichita State Shockers, have defeated Ohio St 70-66 to move on to the Final Four in the 2013 NCAA tournament. This is the madness in which March brings us. Only one #1 seed made the elite 8 (Louisville), only two #2 seed (Ohio St and Duke) and the elite 8 features two 3 vs 4 games (Michigan/Florida, Syracuse/Marquette).
The Shockers breezed through #8 Pittsburgh, outlasted #1 Gonzaga and easily handled La Salle before beating the Buckeyes. Pun intended, it has been a shocking run. The #9 Shockers await the winner of the Louisville/Duke matchup, which is played tomorrow. Not many people knew of Wichita St before this tournament, but like Butler, VCU and George Mason, they could become that next Cinderella team that is routinely in the tournament.
The Shockers may or may not make the finals, but their run has been amazing to watch. They are a well coached and very talented team. Regardless of the results from here on out, this team made the Final Four and will always be recognized for their tourney run.

No. 9-seeded Wichita State is considered to be one of the NCAA Tournament's biggest stories, a Cinderella that has only one more game to win before advancing to the Final Four. No. 2 OSU, however, isn't approaching this game as a favorite. Also inside: Deshaun Thomas' shot selection and Thad Matta's thoughts on West Coast travel.
This is why we watch.
Because any given March, a team full of transfers and castoffs, from a commuter campus in a city more known as the birthplace of Pizza Hut, can become the hottest thing in sports overnight.

Gregg Marshall likes to say that Wichita State is a reflection of the town it calls home: a hard-working, blue-collar, nose-to-the-grindstone kind of place.
Maybe that's why it's so easy to imagine the coach reminding his team at halftime against Ohio State to ''play angry,'' and the Shockers riding that command to their first Final Four since 1965.

Last week we all jumped on the Florida Gulf Coast Cinderella story. Maybe we were focusing on the wrong Cinderella. Sure, a #9 seed Wichita State isn’t as much of an out-of-nowhere story as a #15. But, it’s a good one.
