Just when you think you’ve seen it all before.
Indian female runner Pinki Praminik has been accused of rape, and of not being a woman by her female partner,. When Praminik was taken to a government-run hospital in India, she refused a thorough medical exam. Praminik explained her reasons to an Indian newspaper: “I have undergone numerous tests in my career as an athlete…Why should I agree to more ridiculous tests?”
However, it seems that Praminik may not have a choice in the matter. Word is that she will have a gender-determination test on Monday
This is as bizarre as bizarre comes. I am sure the truth will come out sooner rather than later, but I understand Praminik’s reasons for not wanting to undergo the exam at the hospital. I will understand even more if it turns out she…is not a she. Regardless, her reasoning makes perfect sense, athletes go through enough rigorous tests, why subject yourself to more?
