During the eighth inning of the Tampa Bay Rays’ 4-0 AL Wild Card game victory over the Cleveland Indians, one Cleveland fan decided to hurle his plastic drink at Rays outfielder David Dejesus. Wasted beer, team eliminated, not a great night to be an Indians fan. With the win, the Rays will face the Boston Red Sox in a best-of-5 American League Division series starting on Friday.

A Disgusting Jerk Fan Threw His Dip Spit At David DeJesus Last Night

Tampa Bay Rays outfielder David DeJesus was lucky some idiotic fan sitting down the left field line had terrible aim last night, otherwise DeJesus would have been covered in nasty tobacco juice. Immediately after recording the second out of the eighth inning in Cleveland last night night, DeJesus had a makeshift spittoon hurled in his direction by a nearby fan. Fortunately, the spitter...

Indians fan throws drink at David DeJesus (GIF)

A Cleveland Indians fan threw a partially-filled cup at Tampa Bay Rays left fielder David DeJesus in an inappropriate attempt to vent some frustration during Wednesday night's American League Wild Card playoff game at Progressive Field. It happened in the bottom of the eighth inning with one out and the Rays holding a 3-0 lead. Indians batter Michael Brantley hit the...

Jose Molina Thrown Out After Misguided Attempt to Steal Second (GIF)

Jose Molina is a large man. Officially listed at 250 pounds, the middle brother in the family of catching Molinas has never been known for his quick feet on the basepaths. The Rays backstop has attempted just 24 steals in his 14-year major league career, but he elected to take the wheels for a spin Wednesday during the biggest game of Tampa Bay’s season. With two outs in the top...

Why the Fan Base of the Tampa Bay Rays Gets Harsh Judgment

They say that life isn’t fair, so get used to it, but there’s times when that cold splash of reality in such a neat package isn’t enough. Being critical isn’t something that is fun (although snark is often the soup de jour these days). Such is the case when it comes to my view of the Tampa Bay Rays fan base. I have been critical of them (but I don’t hold all fans to the...

Indians keep Chris Perez on roster for Wild Card game

Source: Hannah Foslien/Getty Images North America The Cleveland Indians have former closer Chris Perez on their roster for Wednesday’s Wild Card game against the Tampa Bay rays. Recently removed from the closers role there was some discussion about whether or not Perez would be on the teams roster for the game. Chris Perez makes wild card roster. Indians carrying 11 pitches, 14...

Cobb, Rays roll 4-0 over Indians

The Tampa Bay Rays' road show rolls on. Next stop: Boston. Alex Cobb dodged trouble for nearly seven innings and the Rays pitched their way to another must-have win on the road, beating the Cleveland Indians 4-0 Wednesday night in the American League wild-card game. Cobb, who missed a chunk of the regular season after he was hit in the head by a line drive, quieted a thundering...

Tuesday’s best tweets about the Indians AL Wild Card game

With the Indians hosting the Tampa Bay Rays tonight at Progressive Field, I thought it was worthwhile to parse through all of the best pictures on Twitter on Tuesday to share with you on the site. Here, without further bantering, are my favorite 13 best tweets (almost all pictures) from all separate accounts during the day on Tuesday, all about prepping for today’s big AL Wild...

Trend Spotting: Finding the value gap, position by position

When a team goes from a 94 loss season to a 92 win season there are going to be a collection of production increases at multiple positions. Today, in brevity I will be looking at the positional production team wide using surface statistics to show the difference from 2012 to 2013. This is just a launching off point as I will spend much of the offseason in this column looking position...

Cleveland Indians Fans Go All Racist During Playoffs

Tweet Remember the 1980s? Assuming you are old enough or you prefer your movies to star the (always) less funny character on Two and a Half Men, you remember blackflace. You know, that whole thing where a white guy would put on black makeup and magically trick everyone into thinking he was of another race. […]

Red Sox/Rays ALDS Preview And Predictions

The Red Sox and Rays played 19 times this season and will play at least 3 if not 5 more as they match up against each other in the playoffs for the 2nd time.  The Rays got the best of the Red Sox in 7 games in the 2008 ALCS.  This year the Sox went 12-7 against the Rays but many believe the pitching match-ups favor the Rays who will put out lefties Matt Moore and David Price in...

Indians' season ends with 4-0 loss to Rays

An unexpected season loaded with highs, lows and drama ended abruptly. The magic fizzled for the Cleveland Indians only one game into October. Wasting scoring opportunities against Tampa Bay starter Alex Cobb, the Indians disappointed a sellout crowd that did everything it could to carry them Wednesday night with a 4-0 loss to the Rays in the AL wild-card game. A team that went...

Despite the loss, this was a game Cleveland needed

Last night’s Wild Card playoff was a game this city desperately needed. No, one game is most assuredly not “enough.” No, I’m not satisfied that the Indians peed down their leg with runners on base last night. 1 All the same, last night was a game that this city needed and it was a game that the team needed. As I said yesterday, this city has been doing a lot of bickering...

Boston Red Sox, Tampa Bay Rays ALDS Preview

While it is only the divisional series, it’s still extremely fitting that the Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays are set to meet up in the playoffs, isn’t it? After all these two division rivals met 19 times this season as they dueled for the number one spot in the American League East. But while the Red Sox did end up winning the season series, 12-7, this has the makings of a...

Takeaways from the Cleveland Indians' season

The Cleveland Indians' season ended in a disappointing 4-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays in the AL Wild Card game last night. While the season ended sooner than fans would have liked, the Indians exceeded all expectations anyone had for them coming into this season. The future looks bright and there is a sense of optimism around this team for the first time in several seasons....

Meeting Paul Dolan, rooting for the Tribe, and balancing criticism

In case you missed it, we had a chance encounter with Cleveland Indians owner Paul Dolan yesterday. Given that it’s not every day that I meet a billionaire who happens to own the team which I root for on a nightly basis, I’ve been thinking about it a lot since it happened. I’d be lying if I didn’t feel a bit strange when we were taking our photo with Paul outside of Progressive...
