Players and staff of the Iowa Hawkeyes football team were none too pleased when they returned to the visiting locker room at Jack Trice Stadium Saturday night to find some of their personal items were missing.
The Hawkeyes had just wrapped up a huge, 27-21, victory over rival Iowa State when they realized their locker room had been broken into during the game.
Iowa State University Police Chief Jerry Stewart, through a department spokesperson, said the incident "involved personal property from the locker room and remains under investigation."
According to Iowa State police, an official police report is not expected to be available until at least Monday and no other details were provided.
However, officials in the Iowa athletic department confirmed through a spokesperson that "there were items missing from the Iowa players' locker room and the Iowa coaches' locker room. Iowa State officials and local law enforcement agencies were very helpful once the incident was reported after the game."
