San-francisco-49ers-san
The Kansas City Chiefs have made a lot of noise this offseason and have brought confidence to their fans.To add to the hype, Chiefs offensive coordinator Doug Pederson went on to say that Alex Smith is the best quarterback in the NFL. That brings us to the topic, is Alex Smith the best QB in the NFL?No, no he is not the best.It is one thing to instill confidence in your own quarterback and fanbase, but calling Smith the best QB in the NFL is beyond ridiculous. There is absolutely no way he is even the top five, let alone the best. You're telling me that Alex Smith is better then Brady, Manning, Brees, Rodgers and Ryan? Those are just a few I listed off the top of my head, and I highly doubt that many other people will think he belongs in that group. No, I'm not saying he is a terrible quarterback, in fact he has probably improved more than any other QB in the NFL in the last seven years. He is a worthy starter in the NFL, but his skillset does not match those that have lead th...

Chiefs OC Doug Pederson says QB Alex Smith “best in the league”

(via Wikipedia) Look, it’s acceptable to think highly of the players on your team, and to heap praise on them whether others think they deserve it or not, but Kansas City Chiefs OC Doug Pederson’s recent comments on new QB Alex Smith border on the ridiculous. From the Kansas City Star… “Ultimately, every team has to have a quarterback,” Pederson said. “I think we have...

GM: Smith is the best QB in the NFL

Alex Smith was a good quarterback before Colin Kaepernick supplanted him in San Francisco last season, but to give the former Utah signal caller and most-sacked quarterback of 2011 any more credit than that would probably be overstating his qualifications. Don't tell that to Doug Pederson, though, because Pederson -- the offensive coordinator for Smith's new team, the Kansas...

Alex Smith Called ‘Best (Quarterback) in League’ By Chiefs Offensive Coordinator Doug Pederson

Coaches should always throw their full support behind their players, but Doug Pederson might have taken that to extremes. After watching Alex Smith in the first week of Chiefs training camp, Pederson, Kansas City’s offensive coordinator, likes what he sees. The Chiefs gave up a second-round draft pick and a conditional pick in next year’s draft, and Pederson feels the high price...

No, Alex Smith is not the best quarterback in the NFL

At least you can say Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Doug Pederson has confidence in his team.  Blind, incredibly naive, fantastical, nonsensical confidence... but confidence nonetheless.  Pederson was quoted in the Kansas City Star as saying new Chiefs QB Alex Smith is the best quarterback in the league. Not the best QB out of Utah, not the best one named Alex, not...

Chiefs OC on Alex Smith: He’s the best in the League

Now before I write this, I want to make it clear that I am 100 percent a Homer for my Utah Utes. I can keep an unbiased opinion on the NFL at all times, but when it comes to college football there is only one team. Chiefs OC Doug Pederson says that Alex Smith is the best QB in the league. (DAvid Eulitt/KC Star) With that said, former Ute Alex Smith has finally made a name for himself...

WR Jonathan Baldwin’s offseason work is paying off: ‘I think they were shocked that I came in as light as I was’

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jonathan Baldwin was selected with the 26th overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. Baldwin dropped 8-10 pounds before training camp in an effort to keep up in the Chiefs' up-tempo offense. He's trying to win the No. 2 receiver role opposite Dwayne Bowe and the team feels he’s making progress, but he still is dropping too many balls. However, coming...

Chiefs Player Finds Interesting Way To Lose Weight

Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Dontari Poe made a difficult decision last June. A former 2012 first round pick (No. 11 overall), Poe chose to stop eating barbecue—which was no small sacrifice considering he’s from Memphis and lives in Kansas City—two of the barbecue capitals of the world. “It might be the hardest thing I’ve had to do since I’ve been here,” Poe...

Chiefs’ Dontari Poe lost 15-20 pounds by cutting out barbecue

Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Dontari Poe told reporters that he hasn’t eaten barbecue since June of 2012 and has lost 15-20 pounds. “It might be the hardest thing I’ve had to do since I’ve been here,” said Poe, via the Kansas City Star. “I eat a lot of eggs in the morning, eat a lot of protein, grilled chicken, grilled fish, stuff like that,” he said. “I...

Fantasy spotlight: Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles

26-year old running back Jamaal Charles is entering his 6th year in the league, and 6th in Kansas City. Coming off of injury in 2012, Charles had three monster games last year - @CLE, @NO, and vs. IND. The Chiefs' offense is much improved, so the spotlight is definitely on Charles to have a big 2013. Alongside No. 1 ranked Adrian Peterson, and Patriots tailback Stevan Ridley...

Kansas City Chiefs are a “team you don’t want to play”

The Kansas City Chiefs rebuilding process may just be complete. “This is the kind of team you don’t want to play. They’re young, they’re fairly talented for a team coming off a 2-14.”  NFL analyst Mike Mayock told according to the Kansas City Star. Mayock spent two days at Chiefs training camp and got the impression that this is a completely revitalized football team...

Chiefs sign CB McIlwain, OT Tepper for camp

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (AP) The Kansas City Chiefs have signed cornerback Kamaal McIlwain and offensive tackle Mike Tepper to provide some depth during training camp. McIlwain entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Falcons in 2011. He spent his rookie year on the Saints' practice squad before being released last year, and then signed with the Panthers, where he spent...

Chiefs let competition shake out at wide receiver

(Eds: Adds details.) By DAVE SKRETTA AP Sports Writer It took Jon Baldwin a split second to get his big frame around the cornerback, and another split second for the Kansas City Chiefs' wide receiver to flash open across the middle. It was by the textbook, really. Exactly how Chiefs coach Andy Reid drew it up. Everything except the catch. The pass from quarterback Alex Smith...

Relaxed Reid making mark on Kansas City Chiefs

Andy Reid isn't willing to say that he's feeling relaxed or rejuvenated these days, but those who are close to the new Kansas City Chiefs coach will say it for him. The longtime Eagles coach is in the midst of his first training camp with a different franchise in 15 years. One minute he's barking at quarterback Alex Smith, the next minute he's yelling at a defensive...

Kansas City Chiefs OC Doug Pederson: Alex Smith is best quarterback in league

The Kansas City Chiefs are excited to have Alex Smith running their offense after four brutal seasons with Matt Cassel under center. The Chiefs signed Cassel to a $63 million contract after he filled in admirably for an injured Tom Brady in New England, and things never really worked out. Smith has more potential at [...]
