Matt Barkley had his injured right hand examined by doctors and they determined that there is no fracture, just a deep bruise.

Barkley injured his hand in the final scrimmage of the year when he hit the helmet of Jurrell Casey while throwing a touchdown pass to Travon Patterson. Barkley can start throwing again sometime next week.

In other injury news, starting senior defensive tackle Christian Tupou tore a ligament in his knee during the scrimmage. More than likely this injury will require surgery and prevent Tupou from playing in the 2010 season.

Tupou still has a redshirt year available to him. It is possible he can return for the 2011 season.
