Jacoby Ellsbury‘s injury has put the Red Sox in a bind. They’ll turn to a rookie for some help. The Red Sox recalled outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. from Triple-A Pawtucket on Saturday, marking the 23-year-old’s fourth stint with the major league club season. Bradley was likely to be called up at some point anyway, but the Red Sox were forced to make a move earlier than expected because Ellsbury is dealing with a foot injury that could keep him out of action for some time. Ellsbury, who missed Friday’s game against the Yankees, was sent back to Boston to have his right foot examined, and an MRI revealed inflammation. The MLB stolen base leader will now head to Denver for a second opinion. Bradley, who is hitting .155 (9-for-58) in 23 big league contests this season, will immediately be thrust into action. He’ll bat seventh and play center field against the Yankees on Saturday. Have a question for Ricky Doyle? Send it to him via Twitter at @TheRickyDoyle or send it here.
