Arguably Jacksonville’s best player, Justin Blackmon, underwent groin surgery to repair an injury the receiver apparently suffered in training camp.Strangely, the date of the surgery is unknown according to RotoWorld.com. The Jaguars hope to have Blackmon back for the start of training camp. Players are to report July 25th and begin workouts the following day.Even if Blackmon returns quickly, he cannot play in the first four games of the season anyway due to violating the NFL’s illegal substance program. He can, however, play during preseason games if healthy.Receiver Mohamed Massaquoi will line up in Blackmon’s spot the first month of the season.Blackmon had a decent season statistically for the Jaguars finishing 2012 with 64 catches and 865 yards, but the rookie only had one 100-yard receiving game. In Week 11, Blackmon had 236 yards receiving against the Texans, which nearly accounts for 30 percent of his yardage for the season.Three Jaguars' players have undergone groin surgery this offseason with rookie quarterback Jordan Rodgers and defensive end Jason Babin being the other two.It expects to be another very long season in Jacksonville whether Blackmon can come back effectively or not. The Jaguars finished 2012 2-14, the franchise's worst record, and owner Shad Khan fired GM Gene Smith and head coach Mike Mularkey, who coached the team just one season.New GM David Caldwell hired former Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley to the head coaching position. The hire seems slightly odd since the Jaguars' offense is in serious need of help, and Bradley is a defensive-minded coach.
