Found July 25, 2013 on Pro Sports Daily:
No surprise here but Buffalo Bills fans must've hoped for one. The Bills and Jairus Byrd have not made progress on a new contract and he will not report to St. John Fisher College this weekend for the start of training camp two sources with knowledge of the stalemate have told me. Byrd a two-time Pro Bowl safety technically is not staging a holdout and cannot be fined for missing practices because he's not under contract. He's the last of eight NFL players to have not signed their franchise tag. The Bills and Byrd missed the July 15 deadline for franchised players to sign a multiyear contract extension. He now may sign only a one-year deal. While the Bills would prefer to have Byrd in camp and learning new defensive coordinator Mike Pettine's playbook that might not happen before the team breaks camp Aug. 21. Byrd would however begin to miss out on weekly game checks if he's not signed in time to play in the Sept. 8 regular-season opener against the New Engl...

2013 Buffalo Bills Roster Projection: Pre Training Camp Edition

Before the Buffalo Bills kick off their 2013 training camp, I thought we’d do a quick projection of what the final 53 man roster might look like. This is very speculative and meant to encourage discussion (EMBRACE DEBATE), so think of my picks below as a “jumping off” point. It will also be interesting to see how impressions/opinions about certain players change over the next...

Fred Jackson and His New Role

Welcome to DJ’s Chalk Talk: Offseason Week Five! This week we take a look at Fred Jackson’s role in the Bills offense. With the emergence of C.J. Spiller last season, it look’s like Fred Jackson’s days as a starter in a Bills uniform are behind him. However, that doesn’t mean that he no longer brings value to this team. At the age of 32, Jackson has a relatively fresh pair...

Take OJ off of the Buffalo Bills Wall of Fame

Ralph Wilson Stadium’s Wall of Fame honors some of the greatest Buffalo Bills in the teams storied history, yet almost 20 years after OJ Simpson brutally murdered his wife and a waiter, Orenthal’s name remains prominently displayed. It’s past due to remove OJ’s name from the Wall of Fame. The Wall of Fame is primarily to celebrate the on the field contributions of the teams...

Jairus Byrd and ?: Breaking down the Buffalo Bills Defensive Backs

The Buffalo Bills should have signed Jairus Byrd to a long-term contract. There are only a few players to build the defense around are Mario Williams and Jairus Byrd. The Bills appears to have a decent core but many are coming off a sub-par year. The front seven struggled last year. Buffalo really needs Byrd’s play making ability. However since no long-term contract has been signed...

Report: Jairus Byrd won’t report to Bills camp

According to Tim Graham of the Buffalo News, Bills safety Jairus Byrd will not be reporting to training camp as he continues to hold out for a new contract. The Bills and Jairus Byrd have not made progress on a new contract, and he will not report to St. John Fisher College this weekend for the start of training camp, two sources with knowledge of the stalemate have told me. Byrd...

Mario Williams has 'Super' expectations for Bills

Mario Williams has ''Super'' expectations for the Buffalo Bills this season. The defensive end arrived at training camp Friday wearing a cap with the Superman ''S'' stitched on its front. It's something that provides him motivation. Williams and the Bills then have much to prove if they intend to start resembling men of steel in preparing to...

Mark Anderson cut by Bills

The Buffalo Bills have cut former Patriot Mark Anderson, just one year after signing the defensive end to a four year, $19.5 million contract. Anderson was expected to team up with fellow free agent DE Mario Williams to form a fearsome pass rushing duo in Buffalo, but was a disappointment in his only season with the team. He appeared in just five games before undergoing season ending...

Question #2: Will There Be A Clear #1 QB?

Credit: buffalobills.com We can talk all day long about dominant defensive lines, the future of our All-Pro safety, and if CJ Spiller will run for 1500+ yards next season. But if the Bills are serious about challenging the Patriots in 2013 then yes, Super Mario needs to be super, Jairus Byrd must play like a guy who wants to be the top paid safety in football, and CJ Spiller will...

Return to Relevance: Linebackers

Definition of RELEVANCE: 1 – a : relation to the matter at hand b : practical and especially social applicability : pertinence If you are a first time reader of the Return to Relevance series, I’ll bring you up to speed faster than a college-aged Jim Kelly could sign a USFL contract; relevancy in the NFL is defined as postseason play. By that logic, the Buffalo Bills have not...

Report: Byrd won't show to camp this weekend

BY NICK ST. DENISIn what has become a common theme among NFL teams over the past few years, the Buffalo Bills will begin training camp without arguably their best defensive player.According to Tim Graham of The Buffalo News, Bills safety Jairus Byrd isn't any closer to signing a contract than he was the last time his name popped up in the news. With that, Byrd won't show...

Write These Bills’ Sleepers Names Down Before Camp!

With training camp just days away, it’s time to give you a preview of some players that may not necessarily make the final 53 man roster, but will definitely be exciting to watch with the second and third team units. At Buddy Nixon, we’ll be providing daily coverage of all the happenings at St. John Fisher College as the Buffalo Bills look to prove the doubters wrong in 2013...

Question #1: What WIll Be The Biggest Surprise Coming Out Of Camp?

Some things about this year’s Bills squad are locked-in even before the first practice starts.  C.J. Spiller is our starting tailback, Stevie Johnson is the go-to receiver, and Cordy Glenn is entrenched at left tackle.  Yet, there are players each year who enter camp as unknowns or have serious question marks, and come opening day find themselves not only on the team, but on...

Players to Watch AFC East

Our Players to Watch Segment now takes a look at the question filled AFC East Buffalo Bills: Cordy Glenn LT- Questions have persisted since draft day as to whether or not Cordy Glenn can play Left Tackle in the NFL. Those questions remain largely unanswered after a season that produced mixed results for the 2012 2nd round pick. He is athletically gifted but he will have to show more...

What is Jairus Byrd's trade value?

The Bills may or may not have blown their opportunity to sign Jairus Byrd to a long term deal when the contract deadline passed on July 15th. All they can do is hope the safety comes to training camp and agrees to a one year deal at this point, and then we might be in this situation all over again next year. There has already been a bit of (unfair) commentary calling for the Bills...
