“It’s getting into late July right now. We can make excuses for a while, but we need some guys to start stepping up right now. We’ve been shooting ourselves in the foot these last two games. You can’t blame the starting pitching. You can’t blame the bullpen. You can’t win many games if you don’t score runs.” – Cleveland Indians second baseman Jason Kipnis, as reported by the Plain Dealer’s Paul Hoynes, following Saturday’s 3-2 loss in Minnesota. The All-Star also called out his own mistake for bobbling a potential double play ball that led to Ryan Doumit scoring the go-ahead run in the sixth inning. Cleveland has lost each of their first two second-half games by a score of 3-2 in Target Field. The Indians offense has just six singles, three extra-base hits and six walks in the two contests, as they’ve now dropped to 51-46 on the season. The final game of the series is Sunday afternoon at 2:10 p.m. [Related: Sunday Tribe Notes: Target Field, lefty relievers and 2014 salaries]
