Louisville women’s basketball coach Jeff Walz has hired a new assistant coach to join his staff. Sam Purcell, a former assistant coach at Georgia Tech was officially hired earlier this week. Purcell is replacing Cameron Newbauer, who recently took the head coaching job at Belmont. I am elated to announce the addition of Sam Purcell to our veteran coaching staff here at Louisville,” said Walz in an official press release. “Sam brings a wealth of knowledge on the court and has a nation presence on the recruiting trail. He has a reputation as an energetic, tireless worker and will no doubt continue to put us in position to attract the type of student-athletes that will allow us to compete for championships.” The Georgia native spent the last six seasons as one of the top assistants for Georgia Tech. He was one of the top recruiters in the Atlantic Coast Conference, helping bring in top 25 recruiting classes for the Georgia Tech in all six seasons with the program. Purcell is replacing ...
