Cornerback Kyle Wilson suffered a concussion in last Sunday's loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers the New York Jets confirmed and he didn't practice Wednesday. His status for Sunday against the New England Patriots remains uncertain. The Jets could lose a defensive back this week but gain one. Rookie cornerback Dee Milliner out the last three games with a pulled hamstring practiced on a limited basis and is expected to play. Asked if he's optimistic about Milliner's chances of returning Rex Ryan said "Yeah I am. Absolutely." Milliner doesn't play the slot so it would be interesting to see how they use him Antonio Cromartie and Darrin Walls. They could move Walls into the slot or perhaps go with Isaiah Trufant who replaced Wilson against the Steelers. Milliner didn't fare well in the previous meeting against the Patriots as he was benched at halftime.

New York Jets – The Coples Conundrum

There have been a lot of questions and concerns surrounding New York Jets OLB/DE Quinton Coples this season, as expectations for a breakout second year have been tempered following a slow start for the former first round pick out of UNC. The last time we saw the “real” Quinton Coples, he was manhandling Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert in the preseason, forcing a fumble as...

New York Jets Defensive Snap Count – Analysis and Previewing Week 7

Due to Rex Ryan’s complicated defensive schemes that sometimes put players in positions they’re not fully accustomed to, I decided to also note where New York Jets players were lining up, along with tallying their snap count.  For example, I notched down what “techniques” defensive lineman were lined up in, if safeties were playing on the deeper level or in the front seven’s...

New York Jets Injury Report

The New York Jets have had to make many roster moves since the start of the season. 13 different players have been added to the roster since the 53-man roster was set before the first week of the season. The Jets hope newly acquired Joshua Cribbs can add some depth to their injury plagued wide receiving core The Jets lost both running back Mike Goodson and wide receiver Clyde Gates...

Jets' Cromartie gives himself 'C' for subpar start

Antonio Cromartie is disappointed with his play through the New York Jets' first six games, saying he would grade himself a `C' for his performance. Cromartie, who has replaced Darrelle Revis as the team's top cornerback, says Thursday that he is not playing anywhere near Pro Bowl-type form. He has routinely taken on teams' top receivers, and done a fairly good job...

Cribbs sees chance for career 'rebirth' with Jets

Josh Cribbs says he is ''kind of 111 percent'' healthy and excited about adding a spark to the New York Jets. The three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver-kick returner signed Tuesday with the Jets after sitting out since being cut by Oakland after training camp while recovering from a knee injury. Cribbs says Wednesday he's looking at his opportunity with the Jets...

Jets' Willie Colon on Patriots: "I just hate them"

Former Steeler Willie Colon is a new Jet this year, and as a Jet he's been taught to completely and utterly hate the Patriots. Speaking with Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, Colon was asked about his feelings for the Patriots - a team he's seen often in the AFC. ProFootballTalk: “I just hate them,” Colon said. Of course, there are financial reasons, as well...

Dee Milliner nearing return to field after latest injury setback

There is a corollary that the Jets employ when analyzing a player of Dee Milliner’s pedigree. Health will ensure playing time. Playing time will ensure experience gained. That experience will lead to success. Approaching the seventh game of the season -- Sunday’s pivotal showdown against the division-leading New England Patriots -- Milliner has stumbled in reaching that third...

Jets rookie says Tom Brady gets special treatment from NFL

Sheldon Richardson is a Jets rookie. Most people, much less NFL fans, have never heard of him, but he has decided to assume the mantle of the New York player running his mouth before Sunday’s game against the Patriots. Richardson’s attack method is not a new one — he’s going after quarterback Tom Brady, and he’s saying the Patriots get special treatment from the league...

New York Jets vs. New England Patriots – Round Two Hooks and Jabs

I’ve always hated calling match ups “must win games”, but in terms of the division title hopes, the New York Jets are playing a must win game against the New England Patriots Sunday afternoon. New England has been in “hold the fort” mode all season as they wait for the return of superstar tight end Rob Gronkowski and wide receiver Danny Amendola (who hasn’t stayed healthy...

Rex Ryan did not tell New York Jets not to have sex with wives

Rex Ryan may or may not have implied to his New York Jets players that they should avoid having sex this week in order to be well rested for Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots. The confusion came after Josh Cribbs, who is new to the team, told the media about how much Ryan […]

Rex Ryan wants to beat the Patriots so bad he's telling players to abstain from sex, or maybe he isn't

So, this one's a little bit weird. Josh Cribbs told the New York media that Ryan told the team to "Say no to the wife" this week. Which he meant innocently, as in rest up your legs, don't take out the trash, etc. etc. Of course, in typical Ryan fashion, the comment became a point of mockery. NFL.com: "I can tell he really wants this game," said Cribbs...

Rex preaching to Jets about generating turnovers

BY NICK ST. DENISThe New York Jets' defense is among the best in the NFL in most major statistical categories. Turnover rate isn't one of them.Through six games, Gang Green has snagged only one interception and recovered just two fumbles despite forcing nine.“I told you guys last week, that’s what Rex preached to us last week and preached to us again," Jets defensive...

Sheldon Richardson: Brady isn't Superman

Owners, players and coaches always have a different mentality on how to approaches their upcoming opponents. Some show their match-up extreme respect by never underestimating them, others will say whatever they can to criticize. By downplaying your opponent, you can maybe instill a sense of confidence in your own team. There is no shock that the New York Jets seem to be taking this...

Pats prepping for Jets' expansive ground game

BY DAN BEGNOCHEThe New York Jets have had some legitimate setbacks to their running back corps this season, but it hasn't seem to throw off the game plan much, if at all.Gang Green has averaged 115 yards per game thus far, and they're doing it with a multitude of looks from the backfield. Whether it's in the Wildcat, split-back, shotgun triple, read-option or traditional...
