Why would New York Jets quarterback, Mark Sanchez, be put
into a meaningless game halfway through the 4th quarter behind a
third-string offensive line? Because head
coach, Rex Ryan, runs the show.
Rosenthal of NFL.com reports that Sanchez injured his throwing shoulder
Saturday night after taking a punishing hit from Giants defensive tackle,
Marvin Austin. Sanchez was later taken
Sanchez was put into the game behind an offensive line that
will be bagging groceries at Sack-O-Suds in a few weeks. Sanchez, who is in a QB competition with
rookie, Geno Smith, was most likely going to be the Jets starter for Week
1. It is unclear as to why Coach Ryan
put Sanchez in at that time except to “win the game.” This makes no sense Rex; the game had no
bearing on the standings at all. Who
cares who wins?
This is just another example of poor decision making by Rexy
and another reason why Sanchez has not excelled in the NFL. It is unclear how severe Sanchez’s injury
The Jets will have a QB start Week 1
and according to Coach Ryan, we will all know (whether he says it sideways or
standing on his head) at the “appropriate time.”
