Found August 19, 2013 on Pro Football Zone:
PLAYERS: Mike Goodson
TEAMS: New York Jets
The New York Jets are still waiting for running back Mike Goodson to show up at some point. Goodson has yet to report to the Jets facility this preseason and no one knows why,  except for the Jets and they aren’t saying anything.  They’ve only stated that he’s taking care of a personal matter. Idzik, on absent RB Mike Goodson, says, "Yes, I would expect him" at some point. Wouldn't divulge anything else. #Jets — Rich Cimini (@RichCimini) August 19, 2013 Need NFL Tickets? Loading... Jets punter injured himself getting into a hot tub

While it’s not funny when someone gets hurt,  I can’t help but giggle at the fact that Jets punter Robert Malone injured himself while getting into a hot tub. It just seems so odd. Malone said back "went out" as he was getting in hot tub last wk + went out again a few days later. Getting 8hrs of treatment daily #jets — Kimberley A. Martin (@KMart_LI) August 19, 2013...

New York Jets defeat the Jacksonville Jaguars 37-13

The New York Jets defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 37-13 Saturday night, in the Jets second preseason game. Quarterback Mark Sanchez made his second consecutive start while Geno Smith sat out of the game due to an ankle injury. Mark Sanchez’s up and down play has left the door open for Geno Smith to win the starting job. Much like the first preseason game against the Detroit Lions...

Sanchez blows shot to secure QB job

It wasn't quite "brutal" -- the word Jets coach Rex Ryan used to describe a Geno Smith practice earlier this week -- but Mark Sanchez by no means locked up the starting quarterback job with his performance in New York's 37-13 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday night. With backups Smith and Greg McElroy both out with injuries, Sanchez, the beleaguered...

Santonio Holmes allegedly looking good while running

Some of Santonio Holmes’ teammates have been impressed with what they’ve seen from him lately as he continues to work his way back from Lisfranc surgery. “Tone is very anxious,” wide receiver Stephen Hill said, via the New York Daily News. “He’s definitely ready to come back. You can tell . . . Everything I hear from him, everything he talks to me about is, ‘Hey...

Initial Reaction – New York Jets – 37 Jacksonville Jaguars – 13

A handful of Sunday thoughts on the New York Jets second pre-season game, a 37-13 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars 1. This was a concerning night all-around for the New York Jets defense. The book on them still looks to be: pick up the pace and get the ball out quickly to your skill position players in space, forcing the Jets to make open field tackles. Dee Milliner had a “Welcome...

Mark Sanchez Still Stinks in Preseason

New York quarterback Mark Sanchez had a shaky performance in Saturday's preseason game against Jacksonville.Fantasy Spin:Sanchez played three quarters, which is rare to see in the exhibition season, completing 13-of-23 passes for 165 yards, a touchdown and one interception. He also ran the ball twice for five yards. A solid outing probably would have cemented Sanchez's place...

Jets WR Santonio Holmes tells teammates, “I can play”

The Jets still don’t have a timetable for the return of receiver Santonio Holmes. If Holmes had his way the would be right now. “He definitely wants to get back as soon as possible” receiver Stephen Hill said via Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. “If he could have played on Saturday he would have played. He kept saying ‘I can play. I can play.’ But we’re...

Inconsistent Sanchez throws TD and INT in Jets win over Jaguars

The Jets’ quarterback bout will head into round three. Mark Sanchez couldn’t deliver a knockout punch in the team’s second preseason game keeping the door open for Geno Smith to fight again in the third preseason game against the Giants. Smith’s stock likely improved without taking a snap as he sat on the sideline Saturday night with his injured ankle while Sanchez played...

Report: Quinton Coples has a hairline fracture in his ankle

According to Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com,  Jets linebacker Quinton Coples could end up missing three to four weeks with a hairline fracture in his ankle.  The good news is that surgery is not required. Coples rushed Jacksonville quarterback Chad Henne with roughly five minutes left in the second quarter Saturday night, blocked a pass and appeared to fall awkwardly. He spent...

Jets’ Quentin Coples out indefinitely with ankle injury

New York Jets linebacker Quentin Coples exited Saturday’s preseason contest against the Jacksonville Jaguars with an ankle injury. There have since been reports that the second-year pro suffered a hairline fracture to his ankle, which would sideline him into the regular season. The Jets didn’t confirm those reports, but they did announce yesterday that Coples will undergo a “medical...

Sanchez holds edge

Geno Smith’s ankle looked better yesterday. His decision making? That still needs work. The Jets rookie quarterback was back on the field after missing Saturday’s preseason win over the Jaguars because of a sprained right ankle. Smith moved better in practice yesterday than he has since suffering the injury on Aug. 9 but he still had a rough day to start off a crucial week in...

Geno Smith starts Saturday, if healthy

New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith will finally be getting a chance to start this week. Smith would have started game two but sprained his ankle kept him out of the game so the team hasn’t had a chance yet to see what the kid could do. If he’s healthy they’ll finally see what he has when they face the New York Giants. The team says its because of the ankle injury but I’m...
