Jim Harbuagh heaps praise on his offensive coordinator Greg Roman, calling him ‘revolutionary’ in his line of thinking. Harbaugh feels the mixture of offensive styles has created a new way to play, and that it is only the tip of the iceberg going forward.
The work Roman had done with Colin Kaepernick, and the combination of option and conventional offensive football has given the 49ers the best chance to win. Harbaugh may be getting a little ahead of himself since the trend started in Denver and Carolina last year, but we get what he’s saying.
“I think Greg Roman has done a job that is revolutionary in football,” Harbaugh said. “I think the way he has mixed the trap, the power, the wham plays, into the pistol offense and into our conventional offense has been revolutionary in many ways,” via Michael David Smith of profootballtalk.com.
“It’s possible that it is here to stay. I won’t make any predictions on that,” Harbaugh said. “I think that it’s been successful for us because of the players we have executing it. I think they’re extremely good at it.”
