In December, Lions coach Jim Schwartz strongly denied a Sports Illustrated report that claimed tension had developed between him and general manager Martin Mayhew for taking chances on troublesome players last season. But Pete Prisco of CBSSports.com wrote in a story posted Wednesday that “one will likely have to go” based on the talk that there is friction between Schwartz and Mayhew. Prisco mentioned it in his comments about Schwartz after rating him at No. 21 in his ranking of the 32 NFL coaches. Here is the entire text that explains Schwartz’s ranking: “He is 22-42 in his four seasons with the Lions, with just one winning season. That's not good enough. He is another one who coaches with swagger, but that sometimes spills over to the field. As a defensive mind, you would think his defenses would be better.
