Joey Logano qualified the No. 20 Dollar General Toyota in the 15th position for Sunday afternoon’s AdvoCare 500 at Phoenix International Raceway. At the drop of the green flag, Logano picked up several spots but then stalled around the 12th position.  Logano immediately radioed in that car was loose in and tight in the center. It was a handling condition that would plague the team all afternoon long. Logano would run anywhere from 12th-16th for much of the race. The car was tight for most of the race.  Several minor adjustments by crew chief Jason Ratcliff kept Logano in the hunt. As the race wore on, Logano would continue to pick up position after position.  On lap 157, Logano found himself in the top-10 for the first time during the event. After a final stop on lap 237, Logano would find that his No. 20 Dollar General Toyota was the best it had been all day long.  After restarting the race in 11th, Logano once again moved into the top-10 and the 22-year-old began to pick up spot after spot. While running sixth on lap 312, the No. 24 car of Jeff Gordon retaliated against the No. 15 of Clint Bowyer for an earlier incident.  As the two drivers wrecked, they came up the track right in front of Logano’s No. 20 Toyota.  Logano slammed into the two and into the wall, ending his day with a several damaged racecar. Logano wasn’t able to continue on and he had to settle for a 27th-place finish. Logano’s Post-Race Thoughts: “There really isn’t anything to say about that.  We had a top-five finish just taken away from us because another driver wanted to settle a score and didn’t think about the other people that would get caught up in it.  And that is exactly what happened.   We got caught up in it.  It wasn’t what Dollar General and my team guys deserved today.  We had a good car.  We just had to keep working on it and working on it to make it better.  By the end of the day, we had it as good as it had been all day long.  We were closing on those guys for a top-five finish and then another driver just decided to take matters in his own hands and that was that.  It was disappointing and it was something I will remember for a long time.  I just feel bad my guys and Dollar General.  This is now how I wanted to go out with them.”
