According to Aaron Wilson of Scout, the Houston Texans have a visit lined up with Florida International safety, Jonathan Cyprien. There are a dozen teams that have Cyprien lined up for visits or a workout and the Texans are one of them.
Cyprien has been one of the risers in the 2013 NFL Draft and one of the top safeties to garner attention. At 6-0 and 217 lbs. he has the makings as a safety that could be drafted in the top rounds and is currently ranked as one of the top safeties next to Kenny Vaccaro.
He racked up 93 tackles as a senior with four interceptions his senior season for the Panthers in 2012, which led him to an All-Sun Belt selection and an invite to the Senior Bowl.
During his pro day he ran a 4.6 40-yard dash and showed off a 38-inch vertical for scouts in attendance.
The Texans are potentially interested in adding a safety in the draft to learn from veteran Ed Reed and Danieal Manning. Eddie Pleasant and Shiloh Keo are the only other safeties under contract for the 2013 season at the moment, and since Wade Phillips came to Houston the Texans have had 5 safeties on the 53 man roster.
