Dion Jordan's NFL career got off to a slow start with the Miami Dolphins. It's time for the rookie defensive end to start making an impact. That's how the third overall selection in this year's draft - and the first defensive player taken - sees it. Jordan has begun making some plays in recent weeks, and with the Dolphins back at practice Monday after their bye, he is hoping to build on that. The Dolphins, who traded up in the first round to land Jordan, worked him in slowly at the beginning of the season after he sat most of the preseason while recovering from offseason shoulder surgery. But his workload has increased in recent weeks, particularly in light of the knee injury sustained by two-time Pro Bowl defensive end Cameron Wake. Jordan totaled 25 defensive snaps in the first two regular season games, but his count has been at 21 or higher for each of the last three. ''I can see myself progressing every week, but I expected more out of myself,'...

Dolphins defense should have their bigs back

While the Miami Dolphins have not exactly had a MASH unit of injuries, getting players back on the field is the goal of the reprieve called the bye week in the NFL. Since the Dolphins lost defensive tackle Paul Soliai in week two for a game, two-time Pro Bowl defensive end Cameron Wake, cornerback Dimitri Patterson (missed 4 games), getting all of these guys back for their division...

Dolphins hope to start crucial stretch with win against the Bills

The Miami Dolphins have had plenty of time to rest and recover from the first 5 games of their season.  NOW, the real challenge begins.  The Dolphins will play 3 games in a 12 day stretch, a stretch of games that could likely decide whether their season is a success or a failure.   The Dolphins currently sit at 3-2 and a win against the Bills on Sunday would not only get them...

Wake and Patterson return to practice, as Dolphins get ready for Bills

Are you ready for some football? Miami Dolphins’ football that is. The bye week is over as the Dolphins hit the practice field in Davie on Monday. Cameron Wake is said to be feeling better as is Dimitri Patterson. Both participated in the team portions of practice, which is definitely encouraging!  Paul Soliai and Michael Egnew both missed practice, but Coach Philbin did not give...

WR Mike Wallace says the Dolphins should be running the ball more: 'We have to be able to run the football to win games'

Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace feels strongly that the offense must be able to run the ball to have any type of sustained success. The thought of a speed demon pass catcher deferring the option says a little about the team's ground game. The Dolphins are currently 29th in the NFL in rushing.

Five Games, Five Disappointments for Dolphins

After a week without Miami Dolphins' football, Miami will return to the field on Sunday as the Dolphins play host to the Buffalo Bills. The Dolphins have dropped two straight after their first 3-0 start since 2002, but with losses by the New York Jets, Tennessee Titans, Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns on Sunday, Miami is sitting in sole possession of the final wild card...

CB Dimitri Patterson returns to practice

Dolphins DT Randy Starks finally opens up about his contract

In Mike Pouncey Randy Starks has more than a teammate and a locker room neighbor. He has a public-relations enforcer. One could argue that Starks is having the best season of his excellent career. But with the 10th-year defensive tackle that’s always just part of the story. Already this season he has held out of spring workouts stewed over not starting and flipped the bird to...

Dolphins preparing to play without Ellerbe

The Dolphins have installed about 70 percent of the game plan for Sunday's home game against Buffalo but starting middle linebacker Dannell Ellerbe has had to sit out this week's practices. Ellerbe sat out his second straight practice because of a shoulder injury he suffered in the Oct. 6 loss to the Ravens. The team's leading tackler worked with Dolphins trainers while...

Buffalo Bills at Miami Dolphins: Three Bold Predictions

Let’s see what a difference a week makes for the Miami Dolphins. After a bye week and a two-game losing streak are fans going to see the Dolphins team that beat Cleveland, Indianapolis and Atlanta or are they going to see the team that fell apart in New Orleans and could not overcome the defending Super Bowl champions, the Baltimore Ravens? There are plenty of questions to be answered...

Dolphins know the running game has to get going

(Eds: With AP Photos.) By TIM REYNOLDS AP Sports Writer Here's an interesting change of pace: A star receiver wants his team to throw less, run more. And Miami's Mike Wallace is willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen. The Dolphins are one of only five NFL clubs who are throwing at least two passes for every running play so far this season, and those teams have...

Buy Lamar While He’s Priced Like Miller Lite

I’m gonna start this buy/sell off saying I’m sorry to those who think Miller Lite is a good beer.  I’m not here to tell you that you’re wrong – though you are…just saying that’s not why I’m here – I will say there’s been plenty of brewers over the last 20+ years who’ve come out and I strongly suggest you take a swig or two of some other brews out there.  Heck...

Dolphins' Bye Week a Productive One

While the Miami Dolphins were idle for Week 6 of the 2013 NFL season, the week off turned out to be a productive one for Miami. Only a last second touchdown pass from Tom Brady to Kenbrell Thompkins kept it from being a perfect one for the Dolphins as Miami received help from around the rest of the league.Like the Dolphins, five other AFC teams entered Week 6 with a record of 3-2...

DENISThe Miami Dolphins boast one of the NFL's most leaky offensive lines, and offensive coordinator Mike Sherman vowed to do some plumbing work over the bye week. That work apparently didn't involve personnel.According to multiple reports from the Miami media, the Dolphins' starting offensive line remains unchanged as of Tuesday's practice, which was consistent...

Big-play prevention a focus for Dolphins' defense

BY NICK ST. DENISThe Miami Dolphins' defense has been labeled by some as a bend-but-don't-break style unit. That bothers defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle."I hate that term, to be honest with you," Coyle told reporters Monday, via Dolphins.com. Through five games, the Miami Dolphins' defense has given up seven passing plays of 40 yards or more. The only two...
