Cole Whitt will serve as the ESPN In-Race reporter for this weekend’s NRA American Warrior 300 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Crew chief Bruce Cook will also give his thoughts from atop the No. 88 team’s pit box.

NASCAR BASHERS ON THE 88 CAR - The NASCAR Bashers brand is featured as primary sponsor of the No. 88 Chevrolet this weekend in Atlanta. NASCAR Bashers is a line of toys produced by SpinMaster and styled like an actual NASCAR race car. These cars actually crash, featuring multiple different dramatic crash transformations. NASCAR Bashers are available at major toy retailers like Walmart, Target, Toys R Us, Kmart and more.

ATLANTA VICTORY - Jamie McMurray and the 88 team secured a win at Atlanta Motor Speedway in 2010. McMurray took the lead on lap 172 and cruised through the next 23 laps to earn JRM its ninth overall series victory.

PATRICK’S FINAL NNS DEBUT - After this weekend, Patrick can add another item to her NASCAR resume. Atlanta Motor Speedway remains the only track where Patrick has yet to make a stock car start. Following this race, she will have made at least one start on every track on the Nationwide Series schedule.

INTERMEDIATE UPDATE - Patrick earned her season-best finish of eighth at the 1.5-mile Texas Motor Speedway earlier this season. Of her 17 career top-15 finishes, all but two have come at tracks 1.5-miles in length or larger. Patrick’s average finish in five starts at 1.5-mile facilities this year is 11.8.

MEET COLE WHITT AT ATLANTA WALMART - Fans can meet JRM driver Cole Whitt at Walmart (#3201) located at 135 Wil-low Lane in McDonough, Ga., on Friday, Aug. 31, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. local time. Whitt will be signing autograph and meeting fans on behalf of the NASCAR Bashers brand.

Cole Whitt on Atlanta: “It has taken us a couple weeks, but following the top 10 at Bristol we finally feel like we’ve got some momentum to build on. I like the mile-and-a-half tracks, so I’m anxious to get to Atlanta and get some laps under my belt. “Atlanta is a cool place because it gives you a lot of options as far as where to run. There are several different lines you can take around that place. But you’ve got to be prepared for the tires to drop off. Typically, you’ll see the tires start to give up about 15 laps into a run. The track is just really abrasive. Then you’ll see guys start slipping and sliding around. It can be challenging and quite a workout at times.”

Danica Patrick on Atlanta: “I’ve heard lots of great things about Atlanta. It’s good racing. The tires definitely fall off with the surface being old. The line moves around a lot and you can search for the best line. For me, it’s going to be a big weekend, running both Nationwide and Cup. I’m going to be really busy. But nothing is better than going to a new track and having lots of track time. “We’re always looking for good results. The 7 team has been working extremely hard. That doesn’t change if we finish first or last. But it’s nice to get rewarded with a good finish sometimes. I think we’re all looking forward to trying and accomplishing that again this weekend in Atlanta. There is a rhythm to these races and the only way you can get a feel for that is to do the whole thing. It will be important to finish all the laps.”
