Spain had a disastrous World Cup; that’s not breaking news. The defending champs were the first side to be eliminated, and it happened in humiliating fashion. But Juan Mata scored a goal, video below, as #ESP defeat Australia 3 to nil in their final game. Mata has 10 goals in 34 caps for Spain. Mata said today that scoring more goals will be a priority for him this season at Old Trafford. “At times during last season there were hard moments for everyone but I always tried to do what I do which is to score goals and set my team-mates up,” he told the club’s official website. “I scored six goals last year and I am looking forward to hopefully do it again and again this season.” We’ll see Juan Mata in action August 16th in the Manchester United season opener versus Swansea City. Juan Mata arrived at Old Trafford for a club record fee of £37.1 million in January, and he didn’t exactly live up to the sticker price. Then again, I’m not sure David Moyes really knew what he was doing with him to begin with.  It sounds like Mata is pretty confident that he’ll live up to the investment this season.
