Linebacker Junior Seau, who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound on May 2, has received a number of memorials and tributes in his hometown of Oceanside, California since his death.
According to the North County Times, a tribute to Seau will be held in conjunction with Saturday’s Samoan Cultural Celebration.
Rep. Eni Faleomavaega, D-American Samoa, Oceanside Mayor Jim Wood, the Seau family and several of Seau’s football friends will pay tribute to his legacy during a ceremony that is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. PST, the North County Times reported. Polynesian dancers and musicians will also perform at the event.
Seau graduated from Oceanside High School in 1987, and after playing college football at USC, he starred for the nearby Chargers, landing in 12 straight Pro Bowl as part of a 20-year career.
