2011 was a renaissance year for Cleveland Indians pitcher Justin Masterson. He had command of his bowling ball sinker and looked like he was ready to dominate the Majors for some time. He posted a 3.21 ERA over 216 innings and looked like he made a winner out of the Indians/Red Sox Victor Martinez trade. That was 2011. In 2012, we saw Masterson’s command disappear and his ERA spike back up to 4.91. 2013 will be an important year as we figure out if the 27 year old is as good as he can look at times (like on Opening Day last year when he pitched 8 innings, gave up 1 run, and struck out 10), or if he’s another back of the rotation starter with much too good stuff. Who are some other guys coming off of rough years in 2012 for whatever reason looking to turn it around? Check out my list of 5 more:
1. San Francisco Giants All-Galaxy starter Tim Lincecum came out of his Hall of Fame orbit last year. The Freak posted a 5.18 ERA last year, which is very un-Lincecum. He’s due to be a ...

The IBI's 2013 Indians Top 60 Prospect countdown continues on with right-handed pitcher Jake Sisco. Sisco came out of nowhere in 2011 as he shot up draft boards and looked like a steal for the Indians in the third round of the draft, but his lackluster showing last season leaves many questions about him that need answered. Did he just have a bad year and his 2011 campaign is...
The IBI's 2013 Indians Top 60 Prospect countdown continues on with left-handed pitcher Shawn Morimando. Morimando is one of the more promising young pitchers in the Indians’ system because he is so young, raw, and inexperienced, but shows a lot of ability already and more is expected to come with his command and stuff. Tony breaks down what he brings to the table as an athletic...
The Cleveland Indians will trade shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera
by next winter, sources told Jordan Bastian of MLB.com.
Spoke with a few sources from other teams who think Asdrubal will be traded by next winter. Aviles' 2+ deal w/ option increases that sense.

Cabrera has been on the trade block throughout the offseason...
As hard as it might be for sentimental Cleveland Indians fans to move on from the era of Grady Sizemore and Travis Hafner, there are two things that seem to be getting the fan base fired up for the next generation: The pair of World Series rings owned by new manager Terry Francona.

His signing brings all arbitration eligible players under contract for the 2013 season, and keeps the Indians streak intact of not going to arbitration since 1991 (Swindell, Browne). They also announced the signing...

Well now we get to the fun stuff. That’s right, today we will discuss the “The Bullpen Mafia” as Clevelanders have so affectionately branded the Indians relief corps. Outside of maybe Brian Wilson and Sergio Romo in San Francisco, the Tribe probably has the most unique, fun-loving bunch of characters to ever occupy a major league bullpen. The IBI's Jake Dungan continues...
