On Tuesday night, the Minnesota Twins ended up victorious in a 10-inning game against the Los Angeles Angels (of Anaheim), scoring seven times in that extra frame to win 10-3. Before Minnesota eventually blew the game open in extras, though, Justin Morneau scored on a Ryan Doumit double in the eighth inning to give the Twins a 3-2 lead. However, how Morneau scored was pretty spectacular, in and of itself. After Doumit’s double to center field, Angels second baseman Howie Kendrick took the relay throw and fired it into catcher Hank Conger. Under normal circumstances, the throw would have beat Morneau and the Angels would have kept the game tied. However, Morneau performed one of the greatest slides you’ll probably ever see in baseball, managing to contort his body around the tag from Conger and touch the plate safely. Does this remind anyone else of Willie Mays Hayes? Check out Morneau’s amazing slide in the animated GIF below. GIF via Twitter/@cjzero Filed under: Headlines, MLB, Za...

Chris Colabello's route to Twins roster an unconventional one

There are players who spent the majority of their careers toiling away in the minor leagues, and then there's Chris Colabello. The 29-year-old Massachusetts native went unnoticed after playing for Assumption College, a private Catholic school in Worcester, Mass. No major league teams were interested -- not even as an undrafted free agent -- so Colabello slipped through the cracks...

Thomas homers off Blanton, Twins beat Angels

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- Clete Thomas homered and hit an RBI double, then robbed pinch-hitter Chris Iannetta of a go-ahead homer in the eighth inning to help the Minnesota Twins beat the Los Angeles Angels 4-3 Monday night and hand Joe Blanton his major league-worst 13th defeat. Samuel Deduno (6-4) allowed two runs, four hits and five walks over seven innings while striking out five...

Angels' Hamilton misses second straight game

ANAHEIM, Calif. Outfielder Josh Hamilton was not in the Angels starting lineup for a second consecutive day, leaving open the possibility that he might be headed to the disabled list. Hamilton underwent an MRI and an X-ray on his stiff right ankle, and the Angels were awaiting the results before deciding what to do next. Asked if the DL might be an option, manager Mike Scioscia...

Thomas, Perkins preserve Deduno's effort for Twins win

The Twins might be forced to accept life with Samuel Deduno the way it is. He’s going to have runners on the base paths. There are going to be one or two (or four) hard-hit balls. Pitching coach Rick Anderson will get his workout in taking trips to the mound to recalibrate the gifted righthander. But it seems that, more often than not, Deduno will figure out a way to finish with...

Twins look to finish three-game sweep of Angels

The Los Angeles Angels haven't won a game started by a pitcher other than Jered Weaver or C.J.
