In 16 NASCAR Sprint Cup starts at Michigan International Speedway, Kasey Kahne has one win, six top-five finishes and seven top-10s. He has two pole positions at the two-mile oval, and won from the top starting spot in June 2006. Kahne has led 49 laps at Michigan and completed 98.6 percent of all laps attempted. He finished seventh in the track’s most recent event in August 2011. POINTS REPORT: Kahne, driver of the No. 5 Farmers Insurance Chevrolet, is currently 16th in the championship standings after his 29th-place finish at Pocono Raceway on Sunday. Kahne trails 10th-place Brad Keselowski by 46 points. He is one of four drivers in contention for a Chase Wild Card spot with one win each. 2012 STATISTICS: Kahne leads all full-time drivers with an average starting position of 7.7 this season. He ranks second to teammate Jimmie Johnson for speed late in a run and third behind Johnson and Jeff Gordon for fastest laps run with 273. Kahne also ranks third for his speed under the green flag. CHASSIS CHOICE: Crew chief Kenny Francis has selected Hendrick Motorsports Chassis No. 5-724 for Sunday’s race at Michigan. Kahne first raced this car in May during the 600-mile Cup event at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway when he earned his first win with Hendrick Motorsports. LOOP DATA: Kahne ranks fifth for green-flag passes at Michigan with 1,063 during the last seven years according the NASCAR loop data. He has turned 115 fastest laps during the same period, ranking him ninth. Kahne has made 527 quality passes during the same period, ranking him 10th among drivers, and also ranks 10th for his speed early in a run at 176.302. DRIVER RATING: In his most recent race at Michigan in August 2011, Kahne scored the seventh-best driver rating of 104.2. The driver rating is a formula that combines wins, top-15 finishes, average running position while on the lead lap, average speed under green, fastest lap, most laps led and lead-lap finishes. The maximum a driver can earn in each race is 150 points. The driver rating number is used pre-race as a prediction tool and post-race as a performance evaluator. HENDRICK AT MICHIGAN: In 56 races (178 starts) at Michigan, Hendrick Motorsports has five wins, 40 top-five finishes and 75 top-10s. Gordon ranks tied for first among active drivers with 18 top-five finishes, and he leads active full-time drivers with five pole positions and 950 laps led. Kasey Kahne on Michigan: “I’m excited to see the new surface at Michigan. It’s always been a good track for us, and it should be really fast with the repave. You could always run so many different lines there in the past. I hope that’s still true on the new pavement.”
