First year Kentucky football coach Mark Stoops has been lauded for his 2014 recruiting class, and apparently his success is based on one thing…flooding potential players with hundreds upon hundreds of recruiting letters. 5-star recruit Matt Elam, a defensive tackle from Elizabethtown, Ky., tweeted a photo of the 182 letters he received from the school, which would be excessive in its own right, but the real kicker is that the nation’s No. 10 ranked prospect received all 182 letters on the same day, easily topping the 115 letters UK sent to 4-star quarterback recruit Drew Barker on one day this past March. Okay Okay Here Is A Picture Of 182 Letters From UK This Has To Be A Record Or Something Ha !! BBN #Crazy #WeAreUK pic.twitter.com/A5xeBwkRa9 — Matt Elam™6⃣9⃣ (@FballIsLife69) July 1, 2013 Looks like there may be something to Stoops’ tactics, because despite being wooed by such big time schools as Alabama, Notre Dame and Ohio State, Kentucky is very much in the running for Elam’s services. If the Wildcats manage to land the mammoth 360-pound tackle, Mark Stoops should send a gift basket, or at the very least a thank you letter, to Elam’s mail carrier, because with all that heavy lifting they were the ones out there doing real work.
