PLAYERS: Kevin Millar
TEAMS: Boston Red Sox
Red Sox fans know a lot about America's pastime, but they also know a few things about the wonderful world of beer -- namely, that it's never too early to have a local frosty one. Former Sox first baseman (of Jack Daniel's fame?) tweeted out a photo on Friday morning around 9:45 a.m. ET of a tour of Boston's Sam Adams Brewery, where he claims he is "working hard today in beantown!" adding: #ilive4this. Check out the photo below of Millar cowboying up at Jim Koch's creation station.

Red Sox return home to find neighbor kid never mowed the lawn

BOSTON—The Red Sox returned home from their weeklong business trip yesterday afternoon to discover that Jimmy Goldman, their neighbor and a sophomore at nearby Boston Latin High School, had not mowed their lawn as he was hired to do. The Red Sox, who had already paid Goldman half of the agreed upon amount of $40 and who had filled their fridge his favorite Gatorade, were none...

Ellsbury's shoulder dislocated, out six weeks minimum

Earlier tonight, I briefed you all on an injury Jacoby Ellsbury suffered against the Rays. More information has come in, and it's not good for the Red Sox: Ellsbury reportedly has a dislocated shoulder, and will miss a minimum of six weeks. This is awful for the Red sox, who are already without Carl Crawford and Ryan Kalish. There's no word yet on whether or not the dislocation...

Josh Beckett Leads 'Crazy Eights' Attack as Red Sox Cruise to Another Home Opener Win (Video)

Josh Beckett went eight strong, Kelly Shoppach had a career day against his former team and the Red Sox claimed their eighth straight Opening Day win at home on Friday. But there's still some cause for celebration since the Sox picked up their second...

Cody Ross Shifts to Center Field, Mike Aviles to Bat Leadoff As Red Sox Host Rays

BOSTON –– Mike Aviles is the Red Sox' new leadoff hitter –– at least for one day. During spring training, Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine admitted that he was attempting to warm up to that idea. Now, he's testing it out in the regular season. With Jacoby Ellsbury shelved with a subluxed shoulder, Valentine tapped Aviles to start it off. And the shortstop is prepared...

Scott Atchison's Strong Performance Out of Bullpen Leads to Amica Pitcher of the Week Honors

Scott Atchison had to earn his way onto the Red Sox roster out of spring training, and he's showing that the club made the right move by keeping him onboard. Atchison gave up a run in 1 1/3 innings of work in his first outing of the year, but he showed that he can still get it done at age 36 on Monday in Toronto. The right-hander tossed three scoreless innings and received the...

Recap: Sox bats, pitching finally come together

Avert your eyes, ladies.  (Photo by Elsa/Getty Images) Earlier in the week Jon Lester bemoaned the fact that the Sox had yet to get the pitching and hitting going in the same game. They've finally figured it out, in today's 12-2 thrashing of the Rays. Josh Beckett was in complete control all afternoon.  He wasn't overpowering by any means, but he kept the Rays bats...

Kelly Shoppach Picks 'The Stop, Shop and Roll' as Winning Name for Unconventional Slide Into Second Base

It wasn't the prettiest baseball move, but Kelly Shoppach's awkward slide to steal second base has plenty of admirers. The Red Sox' Facebook page invited fans to name Shoppach's slide, and after sifting through more than a thousand responses, he picked "The Stop, Shop and Roll" as his favorite. Shoppach's theft of second was the first stolen base ever...

How's the Thumb, Josh?

Here's hoping that Josh Beckett''s thumb gets another look before he gets the ball tomorrow. Something was wrong in his first start. Bobby V said "not much of an injury" when it first came up, but let's get a second opinion. Thanks to the days off, it would be easy to slot in Buchholz. And don't, don't, let Josh make the call. He's the most competitive...
