King County Superior Court Judge Bruce Hilyer is running for seat of Washington State Supreme Court Justice Tom Chambers, who is retiring after 12 years on the state’s high court. Hilyer is a former presiding judge of the King County Superior Court and winner of the King County Bar Association’s 2010 “Judge of the Year” award.  He was named to the bench in 2000 by then-Gov. Gary Locke. He is backed by six retired State Supreme Court justices, 10 present and retired judges from the Washington State Court of Appeals, and 24 colleagues from the King County Superior Court bench.
