The New York Knicks have been granted an exclusive five day window to negotiate a contract with free agent point guard Jason Williams, according to Yahoo! Sports. "White Chocolate" retired in September of 2008 after signing a one-year deal with the LA Clippers. Williams has just come off the NBA's voluntary retirement list.
The Knicks have until August 6th to finalize a contract with Williams or else he becomes an unrestricted free agent.
With rumors flying about Ramon Sessions possibly being offered a contract and even Allen Iverson being discussed by the Knicks' front office, it is interesting to have a third man brought into the mix in Jason Williams. He hasn't played in the league since 2007 but would probably do well in the Knicks' up-tempo offense.
The Knicks have been seeking backcourt depth and this would perhaps signal that Ramon Sessions is leaning towards signing an offer sheet with the Clippers.
