Depth is a key factor molding Florida’s winning foundation this season. Coach Will Muschamp has been preaching a “man down, man up” mentality to his players, making his expectations for the men on the sidelines crystal clear: Be ready to go in at any given time. Due to right tackle Chaz Green’s recent ankle injury, Saturday’s matchup against Tennessee marked Kyle Koehne’s time.

Driskel wary of comparisons to Tebow

GAINESVILLE, Fla. Sophomore Jeff Driskel has heard comparisons to former Gators star Tim Tebow since he was in high school. They both play quarterback. They are both big and physical for that position. They both came out of high school as top recruits nationally. And they both signed with the Gators. As Driskel led Florida to a 37-20 win at Tennessee on Saturday, the Tebow comparisons...

Florida quarterback Trey Burton calls Tennessee “Front runners”

Florida’s Trey Burton hasn’t been the starter for the Gators for the last two games, but Saturday night he proved why the Gators need him more than ever. Out of his three touches on Saturday, two went for touchdowns. Burton’s three carries totaled 91 yards. Not only that, Burton lined up and caught two passes for 38 yards. After the game Saturday Burton said the following:...

QB Driskel making progress for No. 14 Florida

Three weeks later, he has locked down the starting job, been named the Southeastern Conference's offensive player of the week and drawn comparisons to Tim Tebow. Driskel made significant strides while winning both starts - at Texas A&M and at Tennessee - and showed why the 14th-ranked...

Strong finishes lead to fast start for Florida

No. 14 Florida had two numbers plastered around its facility during the offseason. Players saw them daily. Coaches repeated them for motivation. They became as ingrained as the playbook. Those numbers, 72 and 22, were what opponents and the Gators scored, respectively, in the fourth quarter of Southeastern Conference games last season. They offered a clear picture of coach Will...

FSU fans troll the Gators using the release of the iPhone 5

The Florida State Seminole Booster Facebook fan page decided to have some fun with their team being ranked higher than the Florida Gators today. They used the recently released iPhone 5 (that has a longer screen compared to the iPhone 4S) to show how much higher ranked the Florida State Seminoles are than the Florida Gators. In the AP Poll, Florida State is ranked 4th and Florida...

Vols Fall Apart, Lose Ugly To Florida

It had the setup to be a great game, however the Florida Gators came to play and the Tennessee Vols didn't. For the first half, you could make the argument that it was a good game at the Vols took a 14-10 lead into the break. When the second half began, the Gators took over. Florida outscored the Vols 27-6 in the half and marched out of Knoxville with a 37-20 win. What Happened...

McCray Playing for Family

Lerentee McCray heard the questions. Multiple times throughout his last five years in Gainesville, people back in Dunnellon would ask his mother about her son. ‘Why wasn’t Lerentee playing?’ ‘Was he hurt?’ There weren’t always answers. Now an integral part of the Florida defense, McCray’s fast start to the 2012 season is one he hopes to use to help support his family...

Depth Improves Defensive Production

The Florida defense couldn’t handle injuries in 2011 because the team didn’t have depth. That’s not the case this year. After Jelani Jenkins went down, the Gators were able to plug in freshman Antonio Morrison and not skip a beat. The added depth has also helped the Florida defense to play well in the fourth quarter, where it hasn’t allowed a point in three games this season.

Playmakers Being Sorted Out

The Florida offense went into fall camp with questions about the playmakers. Through the first three games of the season, the Gators are starting to get some answers. Sophomore quarterback Jeff Driskel has continued to improve his play while pass catchers are starting to emerge on the outside. Frankie Hammond and Jordan Reed have emerged as playmakers in the passing game this year.

This Saturday afternoon the Gators return home to the friendly atmosphere of the Swamp. Numerous prospects will be on hand as the Gators host the Wildcats.

Strong finishes due to maturity & responding

Florida’s roll can’t be attributed to its first moments on the field. The Gators’ success has remained sealed at the start, only to be unleashed in the second half for big-time finishes. Three games deep into the season, the orange and blue has outperformed its opponents to secure victories in the quarters that unravel after halftime — something Coach Will Muschamp attributes to character.
