Fox Sports:
Despite recent speculation to the contrary, Kurt Busch confirmed Tuesday he will compete for the Sprint Cup championship under the Phoenix Racing banner.
Some reports suggested that Busch, 33, was considering racing for the Nationwide Series championship rather than the Cup title.
Busch won the Cup title in 2004, the season the Chase for the Sprint Cup made its debut, and has competed in the postseason in six of the past eight seasons. In 400 Cup starts, Busch has 24 wins, 88 top-five finishes and 169 top 10s.
Busch will also run a limited Nationwide Series schedule for Phoenix Racing in 2011.
