In his second year out of Duke University, Kyrie Irving has given Cleveland Cavaliers fans a reason to show up to the arena.  They sure aren't showing up to see a competitive team.  Cleveland is just 2-7 on the season, but they have a star in Irving.  Last night, though, that star gave the team a scare.  Irving had to exit the game in the third quarter with an apparent hand injury. Irving left the game and went to the locker room while holding his left hand.  There was genuine concern about the extent of the injury, but Irving was able to return for the fourth quarter.  According to Jodie Valade of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the injury was caused by Irving getting his hand caught on another player's foot.  He returned to the game with left index finger wrapped.  While in the locker room, Irving had underwent an X-Ray that came back negative. "I'm just not feeling comfortable with my left hand," said Irving. "Attacking the rim, I only had one hand, so I was trying to force shots over Chris Kaman, and he did a good job of trying to block my shot."Irving still managed to score 26 points in the loss.  He had no assists in the game - a first for his NBA career.  In Irving's career, he has averaged 19.4 points per game and 5.5 assists per game.  So far this season, he is averaging 24.4 points per game and 5.8 assists per game.  He is on pace for his first NBA All-Star appearance if his keeps this pace up. The Cavaliers do not expect the injury to Irving's hand to cause him to miss any practice or game time- at least they haven't indicated a concern.  Since Irving was able to return and contribute, it seems safe to assume he will be ready to go for tonight's game against the 76ers in Philadelphia.
