The Los Angeles Angels currently have three impact players on the disabled list, and they are hoping that shortstop Erick Aybar does not have to join players Joel Pineiro, Scott Downs and Kendrys Morales on that list. Aybar has been held out of the last three games for the Angels for what was termed muscle tightness on the left side of his body. Without specifically calling it an oblique injury, that was the overall fear. An MRI test conducted on Wednesday revealed that Aybar does indeed have a muscle strain, and while Aybar will not be healthy enough to play in the Angels’ home opener against the Toronto Blue Jays, hey may be available over the weekend as a pinch-hitter or pinch-runner. Angels manager Mike Scioscia was optimistic about keeping Aybar off the DL. “We’ll evaluate it,” Scioscia told the Los Angeles Times. “He’s only been able to bunt.
