Lance Armstrong had to scramble after puncturing a tire during the 12th stage of the Tour de France on Thursday, with Italy's Rinaldo Nocentini again wearing the yellow jersey and Britain's Mark Cavendish going for a third straight stage victory. Armstrong, the seven-time champion, was able to rejoin the main pack after the mishap with about 37 miles left in the 131-mile ride from Tonnerre to Vittel. He pulled over to the side of the road while his team repaired a punctured back wheel.
