The college basketball regular season is starting to wind down and the pressure is on for some teams to secure a solid seeding in conference championship tournaments. While we may be focused on the college football action year round even we can appreciate the excitement on the hard court this time of year. And as we have seen before, college football coaches soaking in a college basketball game is certainly not out of the question. Things are always fun to watch in the ACC, perhaps more so than in football, and North Carolina continues to find themselves in the middle of the fun. On Sunday the Tar Heels hosted Florida State, a team looking to play for an at-large spot in the upcoming NCAA Men's Basketball tournament. North Carolina, on the other hand, is looking to grab a top two seed in the ACC tournament and stay just ahead of NC State. So with the big home game against the Seminoles it was necessary to have as much support in the stands as possible. And that included football coach Larry Fedora, who was seen rocking a visor and blue hair jumping around in the student section... OK, so the blue hair was fake, but given Fedora's tendency to be a little on edge and high on energy, it sure wouldn't have surprised anyone if he had in fact dyed his hair Carolina blue for the game in a show of support. Fedora and the Tar Heels also open up spring practice this week. North Carolina went 8-4 in Fedora's first season in Chapel Hill but ultimately had to sit out of the postseason due to NCAA postseason ban. The Tar Heels would have faced Florida State in the ACC Championship Game if not for the sanctions. Miami finished in first place in the ACC's Coastal Division after tiebreakers but voluntarily sat out of the postseason due to an ongoing NCAA investigation. Because the Tar Heels were also ineligible to compete it was Georgia Tech who traveled to Charlotte for the conference championship game. North Carolina will be eligible for the postseason this season, and although a basketball schedule may conflict with any postseason plans Fedora's team gets to make in 2013, we hope to see Roy Williams find an opportunity to return the favor in the Tar Pit.   Image via   Kevin McGuire is the national college football writer for Examiner.com and host of the No 2-Minute Warning podcast.
