Assembly hall in Indiana was packed for the Illinois-Indiana game. Going into this match up both teams were .500 in conference. Indiana coming in at (6-6) and Illinois at (5-5). The last time these two teams met, the Fighting Illini won in Champaign 72-48 on March 5 2011.

The Fighting Illini have targeted offensive tackle as a definite position of need for the 2013 football class. Having already extended a couple offers, they reached out to another in-state tackle with an offer Wednesday.
Some Fighting Illini football fans blame co-coordinators for problems with the 2008 and 2009 defenses. They are thus leery of having two men designated to share offensive coordinator by new coach Tim Beckman. But Billy Gonzales and Chris Beatty have no qualms about the arrangement. Beatty is eager to coach quarterbacks and share ideas with the offensive staff.
The Fighting Illini football team added a couple last minute decision-makers to its 2012 Signing Day haul. One of those is an underrated running back from Ohio with the size and speed to become an excellent college player. LaKeith Walls was originally committed to NC State but changed his mind after visiting the UI campus.
The Fighting Illini basketball team fought host Indiana evenly through the first part of the second half, but the Hoosiers pulled away for an 84-71 victory Thursday night. Three Illini fouled out as the Hoosiers hit 35 of 42 free throws. Indiana had too much firepower for the less experienced Illini.

The Fighting Illini women's track and field team will square off against an elite field, including nine teams ranked in this week's national poll, when it heads south to Fayetteville, Ark., on Feb 10-11.
So much for the easy part of the schedule. While the Fighting Illini basketball team might argue it has already endured a difficult schedule, it gets worse. Four of the next five games are on the road, beginning at Indiana Thursday evening. The rabid Hoosier fans love to beat the Illini, and they will be out in full force to make the Illini visit an unpleasant one.
