According to the Daily News, Percy “Romeo” Miller won’t be with the team next season. The actor/rapper/entertainer/star-for-basically-no-reason point guard has been a part of the USC basketball program for the past two seasons, racking up a breathtaking 2 points in 7 minutes of play this past season. He played in six games his freshman season.
Tim Floyd brought in the 6-foot-1 Beverly Hills High point guard for the 2008-09 season as a walk-on on scholarship. The fact that the kid was a millionaire meant nothing. Oh yeah, and his best friend DeMar DeRozan was also brought on board.
“My best friend DeMar DeRozan and I, we wanted to go somewhere together and USC was the perfect place,” Miller told SI. “They got one of the best film schools there so I’ll be doing that while I’m playing ball. USC is my dream school. It’s like my Disney World.
We’re guessing this is how the conversation went with Romeo and USC coach Kevin O’Neil, who is well known for being on the rough side:
ROMEO: Coach, I’m spent. I don’t want to be on the team any more.
O’NEIL: Who are you? Have you been here the entire season?
– End of conversation.
