What’s Up: In his chat with AngelsWin, Angels Scouting Director Ric Wilson lauded Sappington as a player who, "has big stuff and... loves to learn." Those two qualities have lined up for Sappington to start the 2013 campaign as he continues to dominate High-A hitters. The strikeout numbers (9K/9) speak for themselves, and those coupled with Sappington's ability to keep runners off base have have allowed the big right-hander to have an extremely impressive start to the year. Sappington's fastball sits in the mid 90s and he can pump it up to 98 MPH in short bursts. The 6'5" 22-year-old ...

GAME 18 - ANGELS AT A’S
OAKLAND -- The Angels got a solid performance from their starting pitcher, played good defense and had timely hitting. But when their game against the Oakland A's ended, the Angels walked off the field with their heads down.
Greg Myers hit a pinch-hit, three-run homer in the ninth inning off Angels closer Troy Percival to lift the...
MLB News: The Los Angeles Angels placed pitcher Mark Lowe on the disabled list Saturday as he is suffering from a stiff neck. The 29 year old has spent eight seasons in the majors, tallying a 3.43 earned run average in 39.1 innings pitched last season while striking out 28 hitters. He has struggled in 2013, his first year with the Angels, walking 8 in just 6.1 innings pitched, topping...
The Los Angeles Angels have placed third baseman Alberto
Callaspo on the 15-day disabled list due to right calf tightness, the team has announced.
Callaspo suffered the injury during Thursday night’s contest
against the Oakland Athletics. Initially, the Angels only expected him to miss
a few days before returning, but he’ll instead require at least two weeks on
Angels manager Mike Scioscia already has dropped left fielder Mike Trout to the No. 2 spot in the batting order.
Might it be time for Scioscia to make a similar adjustment with right fielder Josh Hamilton?
The Angels are starting to roll, coming off their first sweep of the season against the Tigers. But on Sunday, the Angels' No. 3 hitter, Albert Pujols, again received multiple...

GAME 17 -ANGELS AT A’S
OAKLAND -- A couple of Angels could not agree on who was at
fault for their 8-7 loss to the Oakland A's Saturday afternoon before 20,253 at
the Oakland Coliseum.
There was first baseman Scott Spiezio, who made a throwing
error in the eighth inning that led to two unearned runs. And...

The Story: Ryan Madson suffered yet another setback after throwing a simulated game over the weekend.
The Monkey Says: I even joked recently that he had been making so much progress that he was due for another setback...
In a game that looked like it was in the pooper early on the Angels managed to pull a hard, and I mean hard, fought victory. The Angels offense struggled through most of the game, failing to collect crucial hits in 7 of their 8 RISP opportunities. What really gets me excited is how the Angels battled against the such a heralded AL team, a team thought by many to play deep into the...

GAME 19- ANGELS AT MARINERS
SEATTLE -- It's one thing when a team's pitchers have trouble throwing the ball over the plate. A couple of Angels pitchers showed Monday night that an inability to throw to first base can have equally destructive consequences.
Angels starter Scott Schoeneweis discovered that...
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- Mark Trumbo homered leading the bottom of the 13th inning and Albert Pujols doubled home two runs, leading the Los Angeles Angels to a 4-3 victory over Detroit on Sunday for their second straight series sweep of the Tigers.
Detroit lefty Phil Coke (0-2) intentionally walked Pujols with two outs and the bases empty in the 12th before striking out Josh Hamilton...
One of the prime theories we were operating under during the off-season was that Jerry Dipoto had knowingly built a shaky rotation. But to make up for the rotation's deficiencies, he had loaded up on bullpen reinforcements so that Scioscia could shorten the game for the starters. The problem with theories is that they don't always prove true. Take tonight for example.

The Story: Mike Scioscia moved Josh Hamilton to fifth in the lineup against southpaw Derek Holland last night.
The Monkey Says: Scioscia is always loath to drop a star in in the lineup...
A.J. Pierzynski hit a tiebreaking homer with two outs in the ninth inning, and the Texas Rangers rallied from a late three-run deficit for a 7-6 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Monday night.
Mitch Moreland had three hits and drove in a run for the Rangers, who also got three hits from Elvis Andrus in their fourth consecutive victory, snapping the Angels' three-game winning...

After last night’s deflating loss, of a type we’ve seen before this season and would rather not see any more of, the Tigers send out RHP Rick Porcello against Angels RHP Garrett Richards. Porcello missed his last start due to an off-day shuffle type thing; instead, he turned in a perfect two innings in what I think was his first regular-season (at least) bullpen appearance ever...
