We all remember the injury — during Louisville’s Elite Eight matchup against Duke in March, Kevin Ware went out to contest a three-pointer and landed awkwardly. The result was Ware’s shin bone “fully protruding” from his leg, in what ended up indeed being a compound fracture of his leg. The injury was tough on Ware’s teammates — some were seen crying after the incident — and the Sophomore guard had to watch the rest of the regional championship from a hospital bed. His team went on to win the National Championship, though, and Ware was selected to cut down the nets from the final game. Six months later, Ware is back on the court and he’s throwing down. In a video posted on YouTube on Tuesday by one of Ware’s teammates, the now-junior guard is seen firmly planting and dunking a basketball at what appears to be a Lousiville team practice. Ware seems to be well on the road to recovery, with coach Rick Pitino giving an estimate that the guard could return to the court by October. That’s just around the corner, and we’re sure if Ware has anything to do with it, he will be out on the parquet with his teammates defending their national title. Check out a video of Ware dunking below. Filed under: College Basketball, Headlines, NESN Staff
