The Detroit Tigers made it through the 2011 MLB regular season relatively healthy, but they sure picked a bad time for the injuries to begin to mount. Magglio Ordonez joins Delmon Young as the latest Tigers slugger to possibly be out for the rest of the postseason.
Young injured his oblique in Detroit’s Game 5 win over the New York Yankees in the ALDS, a series in which he tied the MLB Playoff record for hitting three home runs in the series. He was left off of the Tigers’ roster for their ALCS matchup with the Texas Rangers.
On the heels of that major injury, Detroit learned that they will now be without Ordonez for the rest of the postseason, regardless of whether or not the Tigers will be able to advance past this round to the World Series. Ordonez re-fractured his right ankle which had been surgically repaired in July 2010. He missed more than a month this season with the injury as well.
